WHY? Thanks for asking!
Let’s break it down to just one reason to belong to WSMDA – one solid reason beyond debate – a compelling reason to join. Simply put - the present and future of our sport and industry are in PERIL. Unknowing (and some knowing) politicians and special interest groups can and WILL end our sport and PUT YOU OUT OF BUSINESS.
This is no longer just about off-road access, as was the case a few years ago. Now, every aspect of motorsports has been targeted by anti-motorsports groups with organization and money.
Think about it – Motorsports enthusiasts make up 2% -4% of the population. What
percent are “motorsports haters,” for whatever reason? Here’s a clue – more than 4%! We face an uphill battle, but we can win because we represent freedom of choice, responsibility to self and others, and the hopes and dreams of millions of people – IF we act together.
Ask yourself – “What impact do I have to speak out for our industry? What chance do I have,
individually, to make a difference and be heard? What are the chances I can bring politicians to my way of thinking when faced with bad legislation involving the motorsports community?”
Answer: Does "Snowball’s chance in hell" ring a bell?
Let's face the truth... we’re a very small industry, and we receive little empathy or positive attention from politicians or the general public. When you contact your state Representatives or Senator as one person, do they really listen and respond? Even if they do, can a single politician make much difference in Olympia? The reality is …probably not!
The WSMDA is your voice, and the only chance you have to be effective. The WSMDA has built a solid reputation in Olympia. WSMDA gets listened to. This is not said lightly – it’s taken many years of hard work and strategic political action fund distributions - guided by our lobbyist, Pat Halstead.
It is imperative that you join the WSMDA - whether a dealer or aftermarket vendor. We want our voice to be LOUD, and numbers equal volume in politics. We need members to respond to calls for action by contacting legislators on a moments notice.
For aftermarket vendors who think their MIC membership will create political clout, you’re sadly mistaken. Out-of-state businesses do not get political attention in our state - at least nothing like the WSMDA does. The same is true nationally - individual state dealers have more impact. Harnessing this dealer power is what state dealer associations are all about and the WSMDA is at the forefront of state associations.
We NEED you to be a member, and you, your family, and your business MUST get involved. Please join WSMDA today, while you still have a business operating legally in this state.
